The District 113 Foundation Board

 

Jeff Beaumont - Faculty, Deerfield High School
Jeff has been on the faculty at Deerfield High School for 12 years.  He worked for five years as a teacher in the Science Department and is in his seventh as a counselor. 


 

Susan Berk - Community Volunteer
Susan has been a Highland Park resident for 14 years. She and her husband Mitch, have twin sons, Jared and Matthew, who are currently seniors at HPHS.   Susan has been an active community member and a volunteer for the District 112 and 113 school districts.  In addition to being a board member of the District 113 Foundation, she serves as a Vice President of the HP PTO, board member of the Giants Club, and member of the District 113 Caucus.  Other organizations Susan is involved with are the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, the Jewish United Fund and Joint Action Committee, a political advocacy organization.  When she is not attending board meetings, she can be found at her boys’ football and baseball games or playing golf.  Susan graduated with a BA degree from Northeastern University, after attending the University of Illinois.


 

Beth Conen - Highland Park High School PTO
Beth is a Highland Park resident for 17 years. She graduated from Indiana University with B.S. in Marketing. Beth has been a member of the Highland Park Hospital Junior board and served as treasurer of Indian Trail, Elm Place, and Highland Park High School's PTOs. Currently Beth is a member at large of the Highland Park High school PTO and is a founding board member of the Rory David Deutsch Foundation. Her son Adam is a junior at Highland Park High School and Jared is a freshman at Indiana University.


 

Dr. George Fornero - Superintendent, District 113
George was welcomed as Superintendent for District 113 in July of 2006. George grew up in Waukegan, IL  and  earned his bachelors and masters degree from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb. His first teaching position was at District U 46 in Elgin where he taught fourth and sixth grades from 1975 until 1982. In 1982 George became the Assistant Principal of Tefft Middle School. Soon after, he became principal of Woodland Heights Elementary School in 1984. In 1988, he became Principal of Canton Middle School in Streamwood. He obtained his doctorate degree in 1990 from Loyola University. In 1993, George moved to Michigan and served as a principal of West Bloomfield High School for 8 years. He then served as the Deputy Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction of the Ann Arbor Public schools, responsible for curriculum and instruction at 31 schools. After 2 ½ years as Deputy Superintendent, George was named Superintendent of the Ann Arbor Public Schools in January of 2003.   Dr. Fornero has three children, Matthew 24, Sarah 22 (both graduates of the University of Michigan) and Timothy 19 (a sophomore in the Business School at the University of Michigan).


 

Elise Frost - Community Volunteer
Elise has been a Highland Park resident for 23 years. She graduated from Syracuse University with a BS in Environmental Design and from Loyola University with an MBA in Marketing.  She has done bookkeeping and trust work for various local businesses as well as for non-profit organizations.  Elise has been an active volunteer in her children’s schools in District 112 and 113 and North Suburban Synagogue Beth El for the past 20 years. Her three children and husband are all proud graduates of Highland Park High School. Other current and past civic activities include being a board member of The Volunteer Pool of Highland Park, The Art Center, and an officer of North Suburban Synagogue Beth El.  Elise is involved with The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum and the Jewish United Fund.  She is pleased to be a founding board member of the District 113 Foundation.


 

Randi Glass - Community Volunteer


  John Lee - Junior, Deerfield High School
John is a junior at Deerfield High School and is in his first year as the DHS student representative on the Foundation Board. Active on the DHS Student Council Executive Board, John helps lead several fundraising and social programs throughout the year. John will also be this year’s School Chest co-chair in December. John participates in Model United Nations, Student Congress, Mock Trial, and the business club called DECA at his school. John also volunteers as an Early Bird and WERCS tutor. This summer, John did an internship for Congressman Bobby Rush at the Capital in Washington D.C. When he returned home, John worked for a non-profit called After School Matters in downtown Chicago. John lives in Riverwoods with his family and two dogs, and is thrilled to be part of a foundation that does such exciting work.


  Randi Mayer - Deerfield High School PTO
Randi received her B.S. degree from Indiana University, Kelley school of Business. She received her J.D degree from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. Randi worked as in house counsel in the Real Estate legal Department for McDonald’s corporation for almost 12 years. Thereafter, she practiced real estate law on a part time basis for the law firm of Becker & Gurian, in Highland Park, IL. Randi serves on the Ways and Means committee for the DHS PTO and is the soccer mom for the boy’s varsity soccer team. She lives in Riverwoods with her husband Jim, and their two sons Brandon, a senior at DHS and Scottie, a graduate of DHS.
 
 

Genevieve Misfeldt - Faculty, Highland Park High School
Genevieve is a member of the Social Studies Department at Highland Park High School, where she has been teaching for the past five years.  In her time at HPHS, she has been a member of the school’s Professional Development Steering Committee, an active participant on an Action Research Lab team, as well as an inquiry coach.  Genevieve received a B.A. in History and Education from Lake Forest College and a M.Ed. in Administration and Supervision from Loyola University. Genevieve currently resides in Chicago.


  Alison Randall - NorthSide Community Bank
Alison is a credit analyst at NorthSide Community Bank in Riverwoods where she is involved with the bank’s Charitable Foundation. Alison received a BA in French and International Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She is a Deerfield High School graduate who currently resides in Deerfield.
 

 

James S. Randall - NorthSide Community Bank
Jim is Chairman of the Board and President of AliKat Investments, Inc., the Bank Holding Company for NorthSide Community Bank.  Jim has 30 years experience in the financial industry primarily in new business development and Credit Administration.  Jim has extensive risk management and Asset/Liability experience.  He is an honorary member of the Gurnee Rotary, and past president of the Lake Forest Chamber of Commerce.  Jim received an Economics Degree from Florida Southern in 1977, and M.B.A. from Lake Forest Graduate School in 1981 and a Graduate Degree from Stonier Graduate School of Banking in 1988.  Jim and his wife Lisa, along with their daughters, Alison and Caitlin – both Deerfield High School graduates –  reside in Deerfield.  Jim believes that long term business and personal relationships compliment the community bank spirit of participation and service.


 

Bonnie Shlensky - District 113 Board of Education Member
Bonnie currently serves as a member of the District 113 Board of Education.  She has previously been PTO President at Deerfield High School, Caruso Middle School and Wilmot Elementary in addition to holding various board positions in each of these schools.  Bonnie has been a board member for CBO as well as a coach for a CBO student.  She has worked part-time for the past 18 years for GAP Stores.  Bonnie attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison and received a BBA in Marketing.  She lives in Deerfield with her husband Steve and is proud of the great educational experience that District 113 provided their children, Andy(DHS '03), daughter-in-law Vickie (DHS '03) , Alyssa (DHS '06)  and Jami ( DHS '10)


 

David B. Small - Grosvenor Capital Management, L.P.
David  is a Managing Director and Chairman of the Investment Committee of Grosvenor Capital Management, L.P.  David received a B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and an M.B.A. in Finance and Econometrics from the Graduate School of Business, University of Chicago.  Other current and past civic activities include the Social Welfare/Special Grants Committee of the Jewish United Fund, the Bernard Weinger Jewish Community Center, The Chicago Coalition for the Homeless, the Highland Park Giants Hockey Club, and the Highland Park Community Foundation. David lives in Highland Park with his wife Robin (a graduate of Highland Park High School) and his 5 boys – Aeron (a graduate of Highland Park High School), Elan, Ariel, Elie and Ean.


 

Dean Weinberg - Citadel Investment Group
Dean is Director of Global General Services for Citadel Investment Group.  Dean received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Washington University in St. Louis, where he was a past Chairman of a regional Alumni Admissions Committee and is currently Vice President of the Chicago Olin School of Business Alumni Club.  He also has a Masters of Business Administration from New York University.  He is co-president of the Highland Park High School Bandstand parent’s organization and President of the District 113 Foundation.  Dean, his wife Jody, and their sons Max – a HPHS graduate –  and Danny – a HPHS Sophomore –  reside in Highland Park.


 

Rachel Weiss - Senior, Highland Park High School
Rachel is a Junior at Highland Park High School.  She and her family moved to Highland Park in 2002 from Boston.  Rachel has been a member of Model United Nations since her freshman year, is a committee head on Student Senate for Charity Drive.  She is a member of the French National Honor Society and participated in an exchange program in Montauban, France this summer.  Rachel also interned for the Barack Obama Campaign in Chicago and continues her efforts for Senator Obama through collaboration with Highland Park High School's Young Democrats for America.  Rachel studies classical ballet, modern and jazz and is a member of Highland Park High School's modern dance group, Collage.
 


  Andi Goldfine Zazove - Attorney, Neal C. Zazove and Associates
Andi Goldfine Zazove is a life long resident of Highland Park, IL and graduated from Highland Park High School. She is a practicing attorney with Neal C. Zazove and Associates, P.C. She has served on the executive board of Ravinia Nursery School, the Lincoln School PTA, Edgewood Middle School PTO and also served as the PTO President of Highland Park High School. Andi and her husband Neal are the parents of Alex (HPHS graduate 2007) and Nicholas, currently a student at Edgewood Middle School.
